Sheila O’Reilly joins Village Books in Dulwich Village as Events Manager

Sheila O’Reilly, former owner of Dulwich Books joins the award-winning Village Books in Dulwich Village as Events Manager.

Village Books in Dulwich Village will strengthen and increase its events programme with the appointment of Sheila O’Reilly as Events Manager. Hazel Broadfoot, owner of Village Books says “Successful events play an increasingly important role for independent booksellers and Sheila has a terrific track record in this field. She is a fantastically experienced bookseller and shares the same passion we do for putting books we love into  the hands of readers. We are absolutely delighted to welcome her to our team.”

Sheila said “I am thrilled to be joining such a vastly experienced bookselling team that puts the customer at the heart of their business. I have known and admired Hazel for many years and am really looking forward to working with the publishers to bring the authors and books we love to the reader of Dulwich.”

Set up over 86 years ago Village Books is an award winning independent bookshop in the heart of Dulwich. Now run by Hazel Broadfoot who bought the business in 1996, with Julian Toland (recently retired) the vastly experienced bookselling team consists of Tracey Kivland, Sophie Davidson and Hannah Swanwick.

Hazel says “We really care about making authors, customers and publishers happy with our events. Recent authors have included: Ruby Wax, Sir Max Hastings, Edmund de Waal, Mary Berry, Rick Stein, David Suchet, Yotam Ottolenghi and Michael Palin. Children’s events have featured: Derek Landy, Chris Riddell, Robin Stevens, Lauren Child, Michael Morpurgo, Michael Foreman and Morris Gleitzman”.
